  • WE NEED YOU!!
SCCO and River Road Community Organization (RRCO) are beginning implementation of the Neighborhood plan that so many neighbors helped develop. Now it’s time to roll up your sleeves and help make it happen.  We have formed a Neighborhood Implementation Planning Committee (NPIC) with membership from both River Road and Santa Clara to jumpstart this process.

We began with a transportation forum in February to hear what projects are in the works for our area and to share neighborhood priorities with the City and the County. In May, we did the same for Parks and Natural Resources. We are scheduling the other three topic area forums in the fall (September, October, and November). In preparation, we need to get busy planning this summer.

THIS IS WHERE YOU COME IN

Neighbors who are interested in Land Use, Economic Development, and Community building can help identify neighborhood priorities, recruit allies and stakeholders to work in these areas, and create the agendas for the forums. We will continue to collaborate with the City of Eugene and Lane County throughout the work, but we need residents to lead the way.  Ideally, there will be a few folks interested in each topic area who will form a small team to do that work.

Help guide the future of your neighborhood! Work in concert with other neighbors and service providers, and make tangible change. To participate, please contact either Kate Perle (fccf@efn.org, SCCO Chair) or Beth Gerot (bethgerot@gmail.com, RRCO co-chair).

If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, let’s go together.

Hello SSCO Neighbors,

BEST has spent the last eight months hearing from over 400 members of the community through surveys, interviews, a North Eugene High School classroom, and more. Before we formally report back to you and the community, including the City of Eugene and Lane Transit District, we’d love the opportunity to share these tentative results with you and listen to your reflections.

Please join us:

Friends of HJ Andrews Experimental Forest

This is a little far afield from Santa Clara, but everybody should know Brandi Ferguson, who spearheaded the Friends of Awbrey Park for over a decade. One of her new ventures is Friends of HJ Andrews Experimental Forest (up near Blue River, OR). This is an amazing protected area, a nearly-pristine research forest! It has a headquarters in need of stewardship that hosts forest researchers, educational projects, including international scientists every year during their active season. I attended the inaugural volunteer day and it was an opportunity worth the trip.

You’re invited to join the Friends of HJA for the 2nd volunteer day to help prep headquarters for the busy season.

We accomplished a lot during our first work party and there is more good work to be done!

For more details and to RSVP please click the link below.

You’re welcome to share this invite with others who care about HJA and might want to join. Bring a friend!
